The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple, non-invasive diagnostic test that records the heart’s electrical activity in real time. It is performed by placing electrodes on the patient’s chest and limbs.
This test allows detection of heart rhythm disturbances, such as tachycardia or bradycardia, as well as electrical conduction blocks, signs of enlarged heart chambers, or even evidence of a previous heart attack.
Thanks to its speed, low cost, and diagnostic value, the ECG is a fundamental tool in the initial evaluation of any patient with cardiac symptoms or as part of a preventive check-up.
